Bio
International funk star Temu has been thrilling audiences around the world for over a decade. From the glitz and glamour of NYC’s most prestigious venues as an adolescent, to the thriving underground clubs of Europe, his magnetic stage presence and effortless blend of soul, pop, and boogie has won him a place in the hearts of innumerable fans who can’t get enough of the stank.
Born in New York City, and influenced by an artistic family, Temu got his start in the music world as a child. He became a member of the prestigious Boys Choir of Harlem and Young People’s Chorus of NYC, performing in places like Carnegie Hall and Apollo Theatre. Before writing his first song at 14, he contributed to the hit record “We’ll Always Love Big Poppa” by The Lox. His natural flair for showmanship, love for dancing, and attention commanding voice turned heads everywhere he performed, eventually leading him to an invitation to bring his all American skillset to Scandinavia. It was here that he truly became a world class artist, collaborating with artists like Gramatik, Pharaohe Monch & Royce da 5-9, appearing at major European Festivals, and being awarded “Best Producer” by Scandinavian Soul.
His releases span a wide spectrum of genres, however, for the past several years he contributed largely to the street dance community and has wooed EDM lovers and crate diggers with head banging, euphoric funked-up instrumentals such as Boogaloo Blues, Chemifunk, unique Funk covers from The Jones Girls and Herbie Hancock to even Peter Gabriel and Tears for Fears. With his vault of relaxed grooves to uptempo rockers, neck breaking cover songs or just pure funk seemingly out of a time machine, he’ll certainly make any funk aficionado out there jump for joy and have you dancing in your room in no time. Drawing inspiration from soul, funk, 80’s electro, jazz and more, Temu masterfully stirs them all into a unique cocktail of 21st Century Funk.
In 2016, Temu returned to the place where it all started, New York City. Now a seasoned veteran of the music industry and still a young man, he is on a mission to bring his futuristic funk to new heights in the new decade. With the recent
release of his album ‘Relic Of the Mothership’ and a world tour in the works, he shows no sign of slowing down as he continues inspire stank faces around the world!

FUNK STAR TEMU OPENS HEARTS AND EXPANDS MINDS WITH NEW ALBUM
‘RELIC OF THE MOTHERSHIP’
With high profile performances and DJ appearances across Europe and North America, New York City’s Temu has established himself as a one of a kind force of nature, carrying the torch of funk for future generations. His latest album ‘Relic Of The Mothership’ is a masterclass filled with mind altering grooves, mesmerizing talkbox melodies, and of course Temu’s show stopping voice.
Opening with ‘Scavangas,’ Temu’s ability to reinvent genres in his own image is on display right away. He and collaborator Blacc El erase walls between hip hop and soul, weaving thought provoking social observations together with dance rhythms that speak directly to the body. Drawing from the work of singular geniuses like Prince, George Clinton, Zapp & Roger Temu takes listeners on an interstellar journey that speaks directly to every day life, as highlighted with the down and dirty title track.
On album highlight ‘Jooze,’ Temu shows a different side of himself, focusing on an electronic dance beat that could light up a rave. The track provides so much content that he later presents its remix as a mirror image, a Sly Stone inspired piece of laid back psychedelia. By the closing notes of ‘Magic & Sorcery,’ Temu has taken a trip from the innermost parts of his mind to the farthest reaches of outer space and back. Temu is no ordinary artist, and this is no ordinary album. Instead, it is the gateway into the mind of a truly extraordinary artist. - Jamshpere
